What to do in Franklin Heights

Besides letting your kids play on the newly renovated playgrounds, play kickball in the open field, or play basketball on the outside full court, there is plenty to do. For instance, there is a strip of apartments that hosts the resource centers. These centers include the Police precinct, the Project Go! and Project Yield!, the Health Department, and the Family Resource Center. The Police Precinct has really helped keep this area safe. They get involved by doing activities with the kids and keeping the peace. Project Go! and Project Yield! are after school programs. Project Go! is a great place for kids, ages 7-15, to go during summer break. It's also a great place to go for after school homework help and activities during the school session. Please follow the link for more information. The Health Department is new and is open certain times of the week. The Family Resource Center helps with supplying food, clothes, and household goods to public housing residents.

Need a babysitter to attend class or work? Then register your child in the Franklin Heights Preschool. If eligible, the day care will watch your children while you attend class or go to work.

What's around Franklin Heights

Across Bridge Ave. there is a Mini Market and Katie's Kitchen. Wal-Mart and the Stones River Mall is only five minutes away. The best part about living in Franklin Heights is the Tennessee Technology Center, which is only about a 10 minute walk away from Franklin Heights. This is a good place to earn a certificate and get some hands on training to help you find a job. Across the street from the Tennessee Technology center is Kids Castle. Kids Castle is free to the public and is part of the Murfreesboro Parks and Recreation Department's domain. The castle is cleverly crafted out of wood that makes an exciting playground for kids to explore and have fun. Not far from the Kids Castle are the tennis courts and the Greenway. The Greenway has miles of paved trails to walk, run, or ride your bike on.
