Volunteer Service

Volunteer Service (Community Service) is a U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development requirement for non-exempt Affordable Housing residents. The Quality Housing and Work Responsibility Act of 1998 mandates PHAs require non-exempt adults of Affordable Housing comply with community service requirements. In order to be eligible for continued occupancy, each adult family member must contribute eight hours of community service per month or participate in an economic self-sufficiency program, or a combination of the two for eight hours per month. If you have questions about your exempt status from volunteer service or the program in general, please call Donald Smith at 615-893-9414 ext. 19.
